Roll Out the Barrel: Bethlehem Brews History

Through August 8, 2010

Our new exhibit is open at the 1810 Goundie House, home of Bethlehem's renowned brewer, John Sebastian Goundie!

Learn all about beer and brewing in Bethlehem from its earliest days to the present. Bethlehem's Moravian settlers brought their love for beer with them when they came to Pennsylvania in the 1740s. The brewing tradition continued through Prohibition in the 1920s and beyond.

Take a moment to absorb the sights and sounds of a late 1800s saloon. See old and new brewing equipment and discover how it is used. And don't miss the stories of beer-fueled excess and righteous attempts to control it.

Read about "Roll Out the Barrel: Bethlehem Brews History" in the Morning Call.

Research for this exhibition was funded in part by a grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
