Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites is raising a glass to the city’s brewing heritage.

On July 11, the organization will launch its Historic Bethlehem Pub Walking Tour, which offers a dose of history with two glasses of beer.

Visitors will learn about Bethlehem’s beer history on a guided tour of the 1810 Goundie House, Apothecary Garden, the outside of the 1741 Gemeinhaus, the Sun Inn and Hotel Bethlehem. The tour also winds through God’s Acre cemetery, the outside of Nain-Schober House, Heckewelder House, Single Brethren’s House, Central Moravian Church and the Blacksmith Shop.

Along the way, guests will sample one beer at McCarthy’s Red Stag Pub and Whiskey Bar, and at Hotel Bethlehem’s Tap Room. They’ll also snag a commemorative Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites glass, according to a news release.

The tour complements Historic Bethlehem’s newest exhibit, “Bethlehem Brewed & Distilled,” which debuted earlier this summer.

The pub tour starts at 2 p.m. and departs from Bethlehem’s Visitor Center, at 505 Main St. The tour will wrap up around 4 p.m. at McCarthy’s Red Stag Pub at 534 Main St.

Lori-Ann Wukitsch, Vice President and Managing Director of Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites, says she expects the pub tour to be a series. It will likely be held once a month going forward.

Tickets cost $25. Tickets are limited and guests must be at least 21 years-old and show ID to participate.

To register, visit historicbethlehem.org. For more information, call 610-882-0450.
