5 Ways to Enjoy Your Apples
By Don Loughney, Marketing Intern, Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites
Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites’ annual Apple Days celebration is approaching this Saturday, September 12. What are you planning to do with some of the apples you can find at this time of year? Here are a few suggestions:
Applesauce is simple to prepare and delicious to eat. Boil your apples, mash them, and add sugar and cinnamon-a perfect side dish to any meal and a tasty snack.

Everybody loves apple pie, but that isn’t the only way you can bake apples. Cut your apples into wafer-thin chips, make a cobbler-like treat with sliced apple pieces, brown sugar, and cinnamon, or bake your apples whole and stuff them with your favorite ingredients.

Apple Pancakes are a fantastic way to start the day. You can grate some apples into your pancake mix or create a cakelike dessert with a cast iron skillet and an oven.

If you’re looking to add a hint of sweetness to your dish, look no further than apple butter. Coat your favorite meats, swirl it into some cottage cheese, or spread it on a piece of toast or biscuit. The applications are endless, so always make sure to keep a jar of it in your fridge.

Nothing says fall like a warm cup of apple cider. Make your own using cheesecloth and boiling water and save it for a cold night. Don’t forget to add cinnamon to give it that extra kick.
