Our Autumn Leaves of Many Colors program is an exciting way that children can get a taste of our awesome events. Learn about how the leaves change colors and why, and then make and take home a fun craft using leaves!

This FREE workshop takes place on October 13, from 10-11am and is geared towards children aged 6-12. Meet us at the pollinator garden in front of Haas Barn at Burnside Plantation!

Women & Politics Session

Changing the pace from art to politics, ask yourself: “who are the women who have run for president of the United States?” Most will remember Hillary Clinton, but do they remember Margaret Chase Smith, Shirley Chisholm, Pat Schroeder, Elizabeth Dole and Jill Stein? At this FREE bi-partisan lecture our presenter, Nichola D. Gutgold, PhD., will share her research on women who have run for the United States, what obstacles they face and what opportunities are ahead for women to shatter the highest and last glass ceiling.

Join us at the historic Single Sisters’ House on Thursday, October 18, from 6-8pm. This is sure to be an informative event!

Open Gate Farm Tour

Open Gate Farm Tour Colonial Dress Up

Don’t miss our last Open Gate Farm Tour of the season! At Burnside Plantation, join us for demonstrations, a guided tour, and activities for the whole family.

Activities include: guided tours of the farmhouse and barn, and colonial games & crafts.

Never heard of the Burnside Plantation? This historic farm was established in 1748, as the first privately owned home of the Bethlehem Moravians, by James and Mary Burnside. The plantation features the original farmhouse, farm buildings dating to the mid-1800s, and one of only two operating high horse-powered wheels in the country!

This FREE event takes place on October 21 from 1-5pm. It is sure to be a day filled of good old-fashioned family fun. We’ll see you there!

Still Life Drawing Sessions IMG_3389

“Bring Your Own Easel” and enjoy an afternoon of still life drawing in the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts. We are offering sessions every 2nd and 4th Sunday October – February, 2-4pm. Each weekend will feature a different set of artifacts from our collection that will challenge your artistic skills with interesting shapes, textures, and designs. This is another great opportunity for local artists to practice their skills and add to their portfolio. The best part – sessions are FREE for HBMS members and cost only $5 for non-members!

Bonus! While you are there, you can check out our newest exhibit Sketched Out- The Humble Beginnings of a Masterpiece by purchasing our museum pass.

Death & Dying Tour

God's Acre © Paul S. Bartholomew

Our seasonal Death & Dying Tour is back by popular demand! Don’t miss your chance to explore Bethlehem’s oldest cemetery – God’s Acre and hear the stories of the people behind the names you’ll find there.

Did you know that the God’s Acre Cemetery is the oldest cemetery in Bethlehem? Although this location has remained essentially unchanged for hundreds of years, the burial mounds were eliminated in 1921 for ease of grounds maintenance. There are exactly 2,716 burials here and each stone tells a story.

Dates: Fridays – Sundays at 3:00pm (No tours September 8 & 9)

Price: $15 for Non-Members, $10 for HBMS Members, $9 for Children (ages 4 – 17)
