Design After Dark is almost 1 year old! While we would rather be celebrating the anniversary of our after-hours program series in the museum, we’re glad to do our part to keep everyone safe and healthy. Since Northampton County is under a Stay at Home order until April 6, we wanted to highlight what some of our partners have been doing.
Steven Bost – Our trivia host extraordinaire; Steve is responsibly social distancing to do his part in stopping the virus. In the meantime, he’s been hosting his weekly game of Steel Trap Trivia via Zoom! Normally held at Bethlehem Brew Works, teams (from near and as far away as Brooklyn!) log into the meeting and battle it out in the chat feature. You can join in on the fun on Sunday, March 29 at 7pm when HBMS and Downtown Bethlehem Association host a virtual Historic Bethlehem trivia night! Register your team online and follow along on Facebook.
8 Oaks Distillery – Eight Oaks Farm Distillery quickly realized the severity of Covid-19 and sprang into action on Sunday, March 15. They shifted production from spirits to hand sanitizer and cleaning products and distributed the sanitizer for free to places where it’s in high demand: EMTs, fire departments, hospitals, post offices, and high-risk patients. They even hand-delivered 500 bottles of the sanitizer to the Cancer Support Community of Allentown. You can donate to support their sanitizer production on their website.
Seven Sirens Brewing- Seven Sirens Brewing Company finally opened the doors of their taproom to the public last month and the place has been BUSY. So when the order that only essential businesses stay open came down, they quickly switched from pouring beer to canning beer, from taproom to makeshift drive through. Looking to serve the South Side community, the taproom also has soup from McCarthy’s Red Stag Pub for anyone who may need it.
Domaci Home – Warren and Derrick Clark celebrated the opening of their Domaci Flea Pop-up Shop in the 1810 Goundie House Market on March 7 with us…and then had to close down their 3rd Street storefront on March 15 for our community’s health. However, Domaci is open online – and are even selling quarantine survival kits, with items to help you relax, keep a schedule, and not be bored out of your mind while social distancing!
Lehigh Valley With Love Podcast – George and Tyler may be two of the busiest people in the Valley right now! They have been interviewing small businesses and nonprofits via Skype to find out what people are doing to help right now. Our very own Lindsey spoke with them on Sunday the 22nd about Bag Lunch, Free Sundays at Home, and the Heritage Trail. The videos are available on their Facebook, blog, and YouTube channel.
Design After Dark Sponsor, Altitude Marketing is pleased to support virtual activities in the community so we can weather this storm together and looking forward to “seeing” everyone on Sunday evening.
We’re excited to jump back into Design After Dark once we can all gather again. In the meantime, support our fantastic partners, keep an eye out on our Facebook and website for fun videos and blogs, and maybe join us for a game of virtual trivia?
Wash your hands and stay at home.
Alecia Caballero is the Programming & Event Venues Coordinator at Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites. In her spare quarantime (that’s quarantine time) she enjoys having one-woman showtunes karaoke and baking way too many blueberry desserts. You can contact her at acaballero@historicbethlehem.org to collaborate on a program or book an awesome party or wedding at one of our sites.
