Exploring Outdoor Oases

May 19th, 2020 |

One of our most highly anticipated events of the year, the Rooms to View House Tour gives attendees a glimpse into beautiful homes across the Lehigh Valley. Normally, hundreds of guests visit stunning homes before returning to the Kemerer Museum for a wine and cheese reception. With a fabulous preview party the evening before, Rooms to View is the event for people interested in interior design and architecture.

This year, Rooms To View is going Virtual! Instead of you going to the houses, the houses are coming to you. The Rooms to View Virtual Outdoor Room and Garden Tour brings you exclusive video tours of 12 outdoor rooms and gardens in Northampton and Lehigh counties. Think of it as an HGTV special for the Lehigh Valley.

This virtual event has everything: exclusive artwork and home décor for purchase, a live kickoff event hosted by Ashley Russo of ASR Media, garden tours, a virtual wine tasting, and demonstrations by Allium Floral Design, Ornithea House of Flowers, Jim Lukens, and Elena Shackleton that will have you trying your own hand at painting, planting, or arranging flowers.

The event kicks off on June 5 with the release of three tour sneak peek videos. In addition, the online store will go live with art by local artists, home furnishings, and planters from PLACE, as well as a curated selection of items from the museum store including locally made glass stars, Monocacy Coffee, summery handbags, and more! And don’t worry, your curbside pickup will be contact-free.

We start the tour with a live, virtual event on Saturday, June 12 at 6 pm featuring our beautiful preview home and the first two gardens as well as a wine tasting by Boos Rock Winery and cooking demonstration from the Chef Michael Adams at Hotel Bethlehem. You can even preorder your wine and apps for pick up prior to the event so you can follow along!

The main event launches June 19. You will receive all 9 tours and 4 demonstrations in your inbox via password-protected link with the freedom to watch them at your own pace or binge them all in one sitting. Plant your own herb garden with the Bethlehem Garden Club, learn the tricks of the trade for flower arranging from Allium and Ornithea, paint your own botanical watercolor painting with Elena Shackleton, and get a sneak peek at the 2020 Holiday Dinner and Auction featured painting!

As summer draws near, we’re thinking of ways to transform our outdoor spaces. The Rooms to View Virtual Outdoor Room and Garden Tour is the perfect inspiration!

Alecia Caballero is the programming & event venues coordinator at Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites. She’s got her eye on a new set of wine glasses to bring a bit of Rooms to View to her small apartment. You can register for the Rooms to View Virtual Outdoor Room and Garden Tour on the HBMS online store.
