How to Run/Walk Your Best Turkey Trot

44742673_10156734262477594_4320731348814790656_nAre you excited for the 16th Annual Historic Turkey Trot 5K Run & Fun Walk? Here at HBMS we are busy getting ready for the big day. Join us at this family and dog-friendly event, presented by Physical Therapy at St. Luke’s, to burn off those Thanksgiving calories. Check out the brand new race guide for the race day schedule, race maps, and frequently asked questions.

Keep reading for ways you can prepare for the day!


1. Register Before Prices Go Up

Make sure you pick up your race bib for the big day! Bib pick up is at the 1869 Luckenbach Mill (459 Old York Road, Bethlehem, PA 18018)

  • November 23, from 12:00 – 7:00 PM
  • November 24, from 7:30 – 8:00 AM

All weekend you can use you bib to receive FREE refreshments, FREE admission to Trees of Historic Bethlehem, and a 10% discount at all museum gift shops!


3. Be Prepared for the Weather

Turkey_Trot_35The Turkey Trot is November 24th regardless of the weather. Check the weather forecast before leaving home to ensure you are prepared for the day.

*TIP: Wear layers so you can be comfortable throughout the entire day.

Holiday costumes are encouraged!


4. Get Your Pup’s Costume Ready for the Best Pet Costume ContestTurkey-trot - Best Pet Costume (1)

Don’t forget to register Rover for the 3rd annual Best Pet Costume Contest! Costumes are judged on originality, execution of design, and Turkey Trot related theme.

Contestants and their dog will meet in front of the stage at 8 AM, where they will strut their stuff and prove they are the best dressed pup in town.

Registration for the Best Pet Costume Contest is free, but participants must also be registered in the Turkey Trot 5K.

5. Plan Some Time to Explore Downtown Historic Bethlehem

IMG_4523Turkey Trot participants receive FREE admission to our Trees of Historic Bethlehem exhibit, that is dispersed across four historic locations including:

  • Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts
  • Moravian Museum of Bethlehem
  • 1810 Goundie House
  • Single Sisters’ House

Explore a winter wonderland of Christmas trees
beautifully decorated by the Bethlehem Garden Club! Presented in conjunction with our Sketched Out exhibit, each Tree will be paired with a piece of artwork such as a painting, tapestry, or sculpture and accompanied by a Holiday Putz!

Also, all registrants get a 10% discount at all museum gift shops throughout the weekend.

Gift shops are located at the Kemerer Museum, the Moravian Museum and the Historic Bethlehem Schropp Dry Goods Shoppe, and feature a variety of items crafted by vendors from across the Lehigh Valley!
