Hello Readers!
My name is Caitlin Harvey and I am the new Curator of Collections and Exhibitions for Historic Bethlehem Museum and Sites. I’m so excited to be here and I wanted to revive the blog so I could give you some sneak peaks of upcoming exhibits, projects and newly discovered artifacts.
I have been here for almost three months and I’ve already seen and been a part of so much.
My first exhibit Colors opened in late May. What’s neat about this exhibit is that its located at four of our sites! My favorite piece is an orange velvet and tulle dress from the late 1920s. The dress has such movement, it’s the epitome of the Roaring Twenties! So if you want to learn about the history of colors and see some of the collection’s most colorful and vibrant pieces, please visit us on Friday, Saturday and Sundays!
We also opened Portraits, an exhibit looking at the transformation of portraiture throughout the centuries. There are some special pieces on loan from The Burns Archives, located in New York City. Dr. Burns has been collecting photography for years and is currently serving as a consultant for the new TV show The Knick. You can also have your photo taken in front of our hand painted backdrop!
So feel free to email me any questions you have and check us regularly. I hope to be posting a lot more!
Caitlin
