Week on the Farm Summer Camp

Do you have what it takes to be a farmer?

Have you ever wanted to ride a horse, learn to shear a sheep, or make old-fashioned farm treats? Then this is the summer camp for you!

Experience what it was like to work on a farm in the 1700s!

Experience Burnside Plantation in a new way with Week on the Farm, our summer camp that allows kids ages 6-12 to discover what it was like to be an early farmer, explore what farmers do today, and learn all about taking care of animals on the farm of course!  This fun week-long program at Burnside Plantation is offered in partnership with Sunset Boarding Stables, LLC.

WEEK ON THE FARM DETAILS

Where: Burnside Plantation, 1461 Schoenersville Road, Bethlehem, PA

When: June 26-30, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. (drop offs start at 8:30 am)

How much: $400 for non-members, $350 for members of HBMS. Register early, space is limited

Hands-on Learning on the Farm

Campers will discover what life was like on an early farm with a number of fun activities including:

  • Learn about the different animals that live on a farm and their roles
  • Help with some of the chores around the farm including taking care of and feeding the animals
  • Discover the importance of farming in the past and today
  • Explore horse safety, grooming, and learn how to ride a horse
  • Learn how to shear sheep
  • Help harness draft horses for pulling a wagon
  • Learn about the importance of milk on the farm and what foods were made from milk
  • Play barnyard games
  • Fun farm-related crafts to take home

Experience life on the farm at Burnside with barnyard friends from Sunset Boarding Stables.
