Jump start your fall fun this weekend with Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites.
On Saturday, September 12, the second annual Apple Days will take place at the Burnside Plantation. If you’ve experienced summer’s Blueberry Festival, you won’t want to miss this fall celebration.
Apple Days, held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., features fall family fun activities including an apple bobbing contest, cider press demonstrations, apple stamping, hard apple cider tastings, colonial cooking demonstrations featuring apple recipes and fiddlin live music performances. Best of all? Admission to this wonderful, family-friendly event is free!
Be sure to bring along your appetite, as plenty of homemade goodies will be available. From apple pies, to apple dumplings, and so much more. Many of these items are available on a first come, first served basis, so be sure to arrive early if you’re looking to take home some of these delicious treats. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., guests can witness the Apple Pie Baking Contest where first, second, and third prizes will be awarded.
While you’re on site at Burnside Plantation, don’t forget to take in some of the scenery. Did you know that apples are actually grown on property here? You can find multiple varieties including Rhode Island Greening, Spitzenburg, Roxbury Russet Rhode Island Greening, and Newtown Pippin. For a small donation, tours of the historic house will be available.
Throughout the day, guests can participate in the bobbing for apples contest, colonial dress up, apple-themed crafts, hard apple cider tastings of Shock Top Honeycrisp Apple Wheat and Stella Artois Cidre, guided wagon rides of the scenic plantation and more.
Live music will include Piper’s Request, a popular traditional Irish band who jam on Scottish, Irish and American folk tunes.
