If you’re into steampunk and cosplay, this event could be your cup of tea.
Historic Bethlehem Museum & Sites is hosting a Steampunk Cosplay Tea Party 6-8 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts.
The event is in conjunction with a new “Steampunk” exhibit at the Kemerer, featuring vintage and new examples of this artistic phenomenon.
Come dressed in costume from the Victorian era or something steampunk — Victorian with a sci-fi, fantasy, futuristic spin — and you’ll get in free.
The party will feature Ann Covalt from Bethlehem’s Into the Myst and James Pierri of Auset Gypsy, who will give dowsing lessons and tea leaf readings. Dowsing is an ancient art of using an instrument like a pendant to find hidden things. Tea leaf reading is the ancient practice of interpreting patterns made by tea leaves in the cup.
Covalt is an expert in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Pierri is a tarot specialist, fortune teller, palmist and astrologer.
Admission is $10; free with a costume. Register in advance: 800-360-TOUR or see historicbethlehem.org.
