The average number of Thanksgiving dinner calories consumed by one person is 3,000.

Here’s your chance to burn some of that off. Head out to the Historic Turkey Trot 5K Run & Fun Walk starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 at Bethlehem’s Colonial Industrial Quarter. The annual event, now in its 17th year, is hosted by Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites.

You can bring the whole family, including your furry family members for a day of fun. Here are the highlights:

* Turkey Trot: You can choose from three categories: runners, competitive walkers, or untimed fun walkers. Everyone is welcome along the shorter 1.7-mile Fun Walk Course, including your four-legged friends.

* Runners and supporters can get pictures with Santa in the Colonial Industrial Quarter throughout the race day.

* 4th annual Best Pet Costume Contest: Come to the stage at 8 a.m. and starting at 8:15 costumes will be judged on originality, execution of design, and Turkey Trot related theme. Prizes from Bethlehem’s The Puppy Palace will be awarded to first through third place.

How much: Runners/Competitive Walkers: $45 until the day of; fun walkers, $30 until the day of (by 8 a.m.)
