Morning Call: Photo Gallery: Volunteers gardening in the Burnside Plantation Colonial Garden

July 23rd, 2018 |

Lisa Kroft has been a volunteer gardener at the Burnside Plantation Colonial Garden in historic Bethlehem for the past several years. She says tending to the fresh produce brings her back to a simpler time, and gets her out of the home she shares with her husband at the Pleasant Valley Manor retirement community. She also tends to the creekside trail near the garden, and has fed corn and bits of bread to several generations of one duck family. “The little robins, the ducks, the vegetables — I feel their spirits and it keeps me happy, ” she said while picking purple beans on Friday evening.
