BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Have you ever traced your fingertips along hand-carved crown molding? Warmed your hands by a Moravian tile fireplace? Hopped the first flight to Azerbaijan?
Well, on June 8, you can.
The features of the homes included in the 32nd Rooms to View Home and Garden Tour are seemingly out of a fairy tale, or out of history.
But on Saturday, June 8, that fairy tale becomes reality as community members can embark through some of the Lehigh Valley’s most lavish and historically significant homes.
Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites (HBMS) hosts the event every year.
“Each stop on the tour offers a glimpse into the diverse architectural and design heritage of our region,” says LoriAnn Wukitsch, president and CEO of HBMS. “We are grateful to the homeowners who graciously open their doors to our guests, as well as to our dedicated supporters who make this event possible.”
Eight homeowners in Bethlehem and Center Valley are participating this year — each home offering something new and unique to revel at.
For example, two homes in the historic district are part of the adaptive restoration of the Second-Empire style mansion constructed for Francis Weiss in 1870, and guests will see the original Carriage House doors which are now a feature on an exterior wall.
Another home features keepsakes from travels to Tanzania, Uganda and Azerbaijan.
The event kicks off on Friday, June 7, with a “House and Garden Preview Soiree” at 3347 Green Acres Drive in Lower Saucon Township.
Tickets are $35 for HBMS members and $45 for non-members, and can be purchased by visiting Historic Bethlehem’s website.
