Release: A Winter’s Tale

If Jack Frost is nipping at your nose, then embrace the chill at our newest exhibition, “A Winter’s Tale.” Opening November 21st at the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts, learn how famed artists Gustav Grunewald, Emil Gelhaar and Antonio Martino played with the hues and tones of this season in a fine assortment of snow capped landscape paintings. Feel the sublime power of the snowy season as their art transforms the world into a winter wonderland.
Visitors will also enjoy examples of three dimensional objects often associated with the winter season, such as skating and sleigh rides, which will be in contrast with the paintings.
Some collection objects include: a clipper sled that is very indicative of the dark and subdued styles of the Victorian period; a pair of wood skates made and owned by Henry B. Luckenbach; and a winter bonnet that was a popular style during the 1870s, both for fashion and warmth.
There are many more artifacts and wonderful artwork for everyone to enjoy, so as the temperatures begin to drop you’ll know it’s time to brave the cold and visit our latest installment this season.
