What was New to You is now The Burnside Sale & Apple Days. We are excited to announce this great new event, with classic flair. Join us for the traditional sale, where objects donated by the community are sold to support the mission of Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites.
New to the event this year is the ability to rent a table at the sale and sell your own wares, you set the prices and you keep the proceeds! Items currently available for purchase include a variety of glass, decorative items, and furniture including Roseville pottery and mahogany pieces. We are still accepting donations and space rentals. Anyone interested in donating to the sale may drop off at Burnside Plantation through August 24, Friday-Sunday 9am to noon. You can also schedule a drop off time or rent your own space by calling 610-882-0450, or by registering your rental online at HistoricBethlehm.org. All donations are considered charitable.
Now included with the Burnside Sale is our Apple Days event. Join us at historic Burnside Plantation where there will be fun activities for the whole family. Come hear the legend of Johnny Appleseed and then plant your own apple seed to take home. Participate in the bobbing for apples contest, colonial dress up, guided wagon rides of the scenic plantation for only $5 a person, live music, a fall produce sale featuring fresh mums and of course, a variety of delicious apple treats. Wagon rides are provided by the Bethlehem Carriage Company and are guided by one of Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites own costumed docents.
We will also have a colonial cooking demonstration with apple themed selections by the Historic Bethlehem Foodways group, including apple pudding, apple bread, stuffed apple, Cheshire pork pie, apple pancakes, sausage & apples, and of course, apple pie 18th century style. One of the Historic Bethlehem Blacksmiths will also be on site.
We are now accepting pre-orders for apple pie and apple crumble baked fresh by Tombler’s bakery, the same local bakery that provides the delicious pies for the annual Blueberry Festival. Don’t wait until we sell out; visit HistoricBethlehem.org today to place your order.
The event takes place Friday, September 5 from 9am-3pm, Saturday, September 6 from 9am-3pm and Sunday, September 7 from 11am-3pm. Admission to The Burnside Sale & Apple Days is free. Tours of the historic house will be available as part of Pass Into History admission which starts at $12 for adults, $6 for children, and is free for members of Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites.
