Baseball has always been fun, but it hasn’t always looked like it does today. Believe it or not, early baseball players played the game without padded gloves or protective gear and used a bat that was flat on one side! Likewise, the earliest baseball games were played without foul lines or a three-strike rule. Join us at Burnside on June 1 for an 1864-style vintage baseball game between the Athletic Base Ball Club of Philadelphia, and the Brandywine Base Ball Club!
At this event, you’ll see how baseball was played way back when and maybe get to take a swing or two yourself! Guests are encouraged to bring their own comfortable chairs. Between innings, guests can explore the Burnside house, barns, and grounds, and even make their own baseball pennants to root for their favorite team!
Thank you for joining us for this year’s game!
