Historic Pub Walking Tour Overview

Raise a glass to Historic Bethlehem’s brewing history!

Learn about early Moravians and their surprising views on brewing in a guided tour starting at the 1810 Goundie House, home of Bethlehem’s first commercial brewer, Johann Sebastian Goundie.

Discover the importance of beer in Colonial America and explore Bethlehem’s history as you visit Hotel Bethlehem, Lost Tavern, Red Stag Pub, and the Historic Sun Inn.

One complimentary tasting is included at the start of the tour at the 1810 Goundie House.  (Participants must be at least 21 years of age and show valid ID.)

This bubbly tour answers questions like: How did people order beer during prohibition? What did John Adams drink when he visited Bethlehem? What are the connections between early brewing and the early Moravians?
