November 20th, 2019 |

By Beth Price-Williams for onlyinyourstate.com

Who’s up for starting a new Christmas tradition in Pennsylvania? If you’re still looking for fun ways to create magical memories, plan a visit to one or more of these main streets at Christmas in Pennsylvania. Each exudes the magic of Christmastime, with enchanting light displays and decorations, window displays, and a full menu of holiday activities! Check them out:

1. Bethlehem

Covered in pristine snow, Main Street in Lititz looks like a scene from a snow globe. Stroll down Main Street to start – or, if you’re lucky, to finish – your Christmas shopping at one of its charming shops. Lititz also hosts a variety of fun things to do in PA in the winter, including an Annual Carol Sing.

4. Jim Thorpe

Feel the December breeze against your face as your horse-drawn carriage ride guides you through Main Street in Jim Thorpe. The enchanting small town, also known as the Switzerland of America, hosts the annual Olde Time Christmas in Jim Thorpe. It’s also the perfect spot for a stroll along Main Street to do Christmas shopping and to eat in the town’s eclectic restaurants. This is one of those little Christmas towns in PA you’ll fall in love with right away.

5. Sewickley

Sewickley becomes a Pennsylvania winter wonderland every Christmastime. Visit the delightfully decorated Main Street for an afternoon or an evening of shopping and dining. Carve out time, too, to just stroll down Main Street to admire the twinkling lights and Christmas decorations.

6. Franklin

Christmas leaps alive in the beautiful town of Franklin where the shops on the main streets debut elaborately decorated store windows. Bring your Christmas list so you can tick off gifts as you explore its collection of shops. Here’s the official website of Franklin, Pennsylvania.

7. Lewisburg

The friendliness of Lewisburg’s townspeople makes the magic of Christmastime even more special. A full menu of Christmas activities await on Market Street and in downtown Lewisburg. Drive through downtown, for example, to take a peek at “Lewisburg in Lights.” Head over to the official website of Downtown Lewisburg for more information.

8. Ligonier

9. Media

Capture the holiday magic of Media on a horse-drawn carriage ride through the town’s main street, an ideal way to view the spectacular holiday lights. Don’t forget to bring your Christmas list along, so you can get your Christmas shopping done. This might be one of our favorite Pennsylvania main streets… don’t tell the others.

10. Bellefonte

Travel back to Victorian times when you visit Bellefonte’s Victorian Christmas. Travel down Main Street on a horse-drawn carriage before engaging in the many activities scheduled throughout December, including a day of giving. Plan your visit to Bellefonte on the official website of the Bellefonte Victorian Christmas.

Do you agree that these are among the best main streets at Christmas in Pennsylvania? What other main streets would you include? Let us know in the comments! If a visit to these enchanting towns isn’t enough to put you in the Christmas spirit, tour the best Christmas light displays in PA.
