PHOTOS: “Alice in Wonderland” mural unveiling at Historic Bethlehem’s Kemerer Museum

On Sunday afternoon, the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts in Bethlehem (427 N. New Street) hosted the unveiling of the remarkable “Alice in Wonderland” mural that’s sure to capture the imagination of all who experience it.
The wallscape is a stunningly creative masterpiece created by Kutztown artist Kathi Ember.
The work captures the vibrant colors and iconic imagery of the curios title character, The Queen of Hearts, The Mad Hatter, Tweedledee And Tweedledum, Cheshire Cat, and other favorites.
Ember presents the scenes with a whimsical and lively style that is both captivating and delightful.
More than 140 community members and supporters attended the afternoon event and were treated to a tea party celebration. Children enjoyed decorating teacups and reached for crayons to work on coloring sheets with renderings of Ember’s original “Alice” mural sketch.
Ember spoke to the crowd and described in detail how she approached and executed her painting, which she said took her about 380 hours — which would be about nine and half weeks at 40 hours a week — to complete
You can see the mural on the second-floor children's area of the museum.
