Natalie Hartman is a multi-talented freelance artist from Bethlehem PA. She currently teaches arts & crafts to school age children at the Banana Factory, just minutes from her home. She also creates and runs after-school art programs for local elementary schools, middle schools and other organizations. Natalie truly enjoys sharing her time and artistic abilities with children and surprising them with just how capable they are of creating amazing things!

Hair Crazy Zentangles

Use Zentangle patterns and watercolor paint to create a head full of colorful art! Learn about different historic hair trends that seem strange to us now!

Paper Quilling

Quilling is the art of creating decorative designs from thin strips of curled paper.  Join us and learn how to roll basic  quilling shapes to create your own unique design! While Quilling dates back to the Renaissance, it became a popular pastime for Victorian ladies who would use the rolled paper to decorate their belongings.

Gilded Picture Frames

Use metallic gold embellishments to decorate a one-of-a-kind picture frame that really shines! Learn more about the history behind gold frames and try out the Kemerer framing station to learn how a frame can impact the artwork inside.

Illuminated Manuscript Letters

Turn the initials of your name into a beautiful hand painted piece of art!  The use of gold and silver accents will make your letters glow! See examples of illuminated letters from books in the Historic Bethlehem Collection and learn about the rich history of Bookmaking in Bethlehem!

Metal Engraved Gift Boxes

Use embossing and engraving techniques to create designs on gold metal sheets, then use your metal art work to cover the top of your hand made gift box!

Shrink Art Hair Pins

Create colorful hair pins, necklaces, and key chains using plastic shrink film and your imagination! Draw inspiration from examples of Victorian adornments from the Historic Bethlehem Collections.

Parents will enjoy viewing HairWork: Relics of Remembrance, an exhibition dedicated to the various ways people used loved ones’ hair to create unique, lasting mementos during the Victorian Era.
