Learn about the early Moravians and their surprising views on brewing on this guided tour starting at the 1810 Goundie House, home of Bethlehem’s first commercial brewer, Johann Sebastian Goundie.

You’ll discover the importance of beer in Colonial America and explore Bethlehem’s history as you visit Historic Hotel Bethlehem, Lost Tavern, the Red Stag Pub. Along the way, there’s time to purchase and enjoy a drink at any one of these stops.

Christmas City Spirits Tasting Glass

The tour culminates at the Historic Sun Inn, where participants receive a special Sun Inn tasting glass and enjoy a complimentary tasting of the award-winning Christmas City Spirits, which are available for purchase at the inn. Samples might include Cherry Bounce, a cherry-infused cordial reportedly enjoyed by George Washington; Cider House Blend, a delicious blend of locally sourced apple cider and whiskey; and other intriguing options.

This bubbly tour covers intriguing topics such as how people ordered beer during prohibition, what President John Adams drank when he visited Bethlehem and the ties between the early Moravians and brewing.
