Saturdays at Burnside

Join us the first Saturday of each month for a day of family fun at Burnside Colonial farm! You’re invited to explore the history of our “farm in the city” — a part of the Moravian community since 1748.

Saturdays at Burnside Overview

The first Saturday of each month from May-October we invite the public to visit Burnside Plantation for historic fun!

Visitors will learn more about our “farm in the city” which has been a part of the Moravian community since 1748. Visitors of all ages can tour the Burnside House and barn and experience colonial cooking demonstrations in the Summer Kitchen.

For a smoother check-in experience, we ask that visitors register online prior to arrival. If you have any questions, please call: (610) 868-6868 or email Charlotte Filiciotto, Manager of Programs and Volunteers.

Families can also enjoy crafts and interactive activities.

Spring has sprung! To celebrate the season, create a mosaic flowerpot.

Hint: This makes a great gift for mom on Mother’s Day!

Burnside is in bloom! Make your own suncatcher using natural materials like leaves, flowers, and more!

In the 18th century, ink was often made from a variety of natural sources including nuts, charcoal, and berries. In honor of Blueberry Fest held July 19th-20th, try your hand at writing with a quill pen using blueberry ink.

Colonial farmers were very resourceful! Instead of throwing out certain materials they found additional uses for those waste products. Upcycle an egg carton to make egg carton flowers.

Did you know that the orchard at Burnside Plantation was replanted with varieties of apples popular during the 1700s?

Make your own apple pinch pot using modeling clay and be sure to visit Burnside Plantation September 20th-21st for Apple Days!

Boo! Spooky season will be here before you know it! In celebration of the harvest, design your own paper plate pumpkin marble maze.
