Visit, Explore, Experience almost three centuries of Bethlehem's rich heritage through walking tours, museum admission, & more!

Take a look at our special historic Bethlehem tours being offered. Please make appointments for any custom tours at least 24-48 hours’ notice.

These tours are being funded in whole or in part with funding received through the County of Northampton's Hotel Tax Program.

1752 Apothecary Tour

Learn how the Moravians treat the infirm and ailing & what types of medical practices were established in early Bethlehem.

From site to site, explore at least two centuries of medical advancement in Bethlehem.

Explore the Apothecary that ran from 1743 - 1952 and represents what is left of the oldest continually operated drug store in the United States.

The Rise & Fall of Bethlehem Steel

Steel produced by Bethlehem Steel was used in the construction of some of American’s greatest landmarks, including the Golden Gate Bridge and the Chrysler Building. Discover the history and importance of this 20th century giant; its humble beginnings, its monumental growth, and its tragic decline on this one-hour walking tour.

Dates: Saturday & Sunday at 1 pm, film begins at 12:30 pm

Price: $15 for tour; $18 for tour plus a screening of "Bethlehem: The Christmas City"

Behind-the-Scenes Dollhouse Tour

See one of the Nation’s largest dollhouse collections in our state of the art Collections Resource Center, and learn about the life of Elizabeth Johnston Prime!

Dates: Sunday; May 20, & July 15  at 1:00pm

Church & Chapel Tour

Learn about the history of Bethlehem's oldest buildings of worship, the Gemeinhaus, Old Chapel, and Central Moravian Church Sanctuary, that are still inspiring visitors today.

Explore the history of the buildings themselves, as well as the structure of the worship services that were held there.

Colonial Industrial Quarter Walking Tour

How did the early Moravians establish the largest concentration of crafts, trades, and industries in the American Colonies? Learn how Moravian settlers used trade skills to become self-sufficient.

Explore the Colonial Industrial Quarter with our costumed guide and learn how it has changed throughout the centuries, beginning as America's earliest industrial park, developing into an automotive junk yard, then transforming into the bucolic site it is today!

Dates: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in May at 1:00PM

Death & Dying Cemetery Tour

Take a walk - if you dare - on our historic cemetery tour! Your certified, costumed guide will meet you inside the oldest building in Bethlehem, the 1741 Gemeinhaus, to learn about the early Moravians.

See an original 18th century dead tray, stroll through Bethlehem's oldest cemetery, and hear the stories of those who once lived in the town.

Dates: Friday - Sunday from October 1 - November 12 at 5pm

Heritage Trail

Walk, jog, or bike along the Historic Bethlehem Heritage Trail! Experience Bethlehem on your own time and at your own pace with the use of handheld audio devices.

With 6 links, 80 stops, and 275 years of history, you have the opportunity to learn about the Moravian Founders, Monocacy Valley, Westward Expansion, Victorian Bethlehem, Farmland to Industry, and Bethlehem Steel!

Dates: Wednesday - Saturday: 10 am - 5 pm,  Sunday: 11 am - 4 pm

Hoover-Mason Trestle Tour

The heart and soul of Bethlehem Steel, The Hoover-Mason Trestle, is the closest you can get to the crucible of iron and steel making in America. The laborers of Bethlehem Steel, once the 2nd largest steel producer in the country, were the backbone of the company. This one-hour walking tour features up close views of the former steel plant and treats guests to an in-depth look at the steel making process and the roles these laborers played in our country’s history.

John Adams Bethlehem
Walking Tour

See Bethlehem through John Adams' eyes on this tour led by a costumed guide & discover the role historic Bethlehem played during the American Revolutionary War.

Learn more about who the Moravians were, as well as the visits of John Adams and the Marquis de La Fayette to our city.

Old Bethlehem Walking Tour

With our certified guide in period dress, the tour group will learn the story of Bethlehem’s unique beginnings in 1741.

The walk will cover 275 years of Bethlehem history: speaking on the 1741 Gemeinhaus, 1762 Waterworks, 1758 Nain-Schober House, and the 1752 Apothecary.
