WFMZ 69News: Things to do: Apple Days in Bethlehem

September 25th, 2020 |

Written by Kathy Lauer-Williams for WFMZ

Like Burnside Plantation‘s Blueberry Festival held in July, Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites‘ Apple Days and Market To Go has adapted the popular fall event to offer both curbside and live options to satisfy everyone during the COVID-19 pandemic.

elebrate the advent of autumn with all your apple favorites, from apple crumb pie, apple tart and apple strudel to apple cider donuts, applesauce and caramel apple ice cream, while enjoying the cooler weather at Bethlehem’s picturesque “farm-in-the-city.”

Visitors can enjoy the festival in one of two ways. This weekend, visit Bethlehem’s “farm-in-the-city” by pre-purchasing 90-minute admission time slots from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for $3 per person. The visit includes live acoustic musicians, craft demonstrations and the chance to browse local artisans; timed tours of Burnside Plantation grounds and barns at 10:30 a.m., noon, and 2:30 p.m.; shopping for chrysanthemums, apple desserts and products; the Apple Days dessert culinary contest and a hay bale maze. For the kids, there is a take-home craft bag with pine cone birdfeeder, lunch bag puppet, fall leaf window ornament, Moravian paper dolls, and other activities; as well children’s story time and pumpkin painting. Families also can build a scarecrow for $5, purchased in advance.
